Biography
Nicolas Chu is currently the President & Executive Director of HotelClub a leading global online travel company that operates 3 websites: HotelClub.com, RatesToGo.com and Asia-Hotels.com.
In that role, he is responsible for the strategy, development and operations of the company globally with a focus on 27 markets in Asia Pacific, Europe and North America. HotelClub is part of Orbitz Worldwide Inc (NYSE: OWW)
He is a member of the Australian Investor Network and also serves as a board director of Sofee, an online start-up based in Australia that aims to revolutionize the employment industry online.
Prior to joining HotelClub, Nicolas spent eight years at Expedia, holding executive positions in Europe and Asia Pacific. Most recently, he was the Managing Director for the company’s Australia and New Zealand business . During this period, he successfully launched 3 multi-million-dollar brand campaigns, maintained a CAGR of 40% in revenue and transformed the company into one of the top 2 online travel agencies in Australia and New Zealand. He also led retail and product strategy for Expedia Asia Pacific, identifying business opportunities and developing products and services in India, Japan, South-East Asia and Oceania.
He began his career by launching a digital business incubator, helping many online ventures to get set up and was responsible for numerous online projects including for the French Ministry of Education and FIFA before joining Amadeus to take charge of their online and e-commerce projects in France.
He is a frequent speaker at Internet conferences around the globe, is the author of “How to Succeed in a Website Project”, in French, (Eyrolles Publishing – 6th edition), and lectured at the Diderot University of Paris for Master’s degree programs as a Sr. Lecturer for seven years.
He holds an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management (Australian School of Business), a Master’s degree in Computer Science Applied to Business Management from Denis Diderot University in Paris and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science & History from the Sorbone University in Paris.
